Juan Cortez has been coordinating mariachi festivals and workshops in conjunction with schools in California, Washington and Chicago, Illinois since 1988.  In all of these festivals he has composed and arranged the music for the workshops, taught the violin at all levels in his master classes, collaborated with such talent as the Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano,  Mariachi de America de Jesús de Hijar, Mariachi Sol de México de José Hernández, performed and directed Mariachi Internacional de México and Mariachi Voz de México.  In addition, he has brought artists such as Alicia Juárez, Lorenzo Antonio and las Xparks, Mercedes Castro, Ballet Folklorico del Pacifico, Los Bailadores de Bronce and many more to these educational and festive events.

Juan Cortez and his festival team are available to any school district or other organization wanting to set up a festival and the associated workshops.  Their ability to network with top artists, arrange original compositions and coordinate their efforts with local organizations speaks to nothing but the best, as you can see in the short video below.  The musical backdrop to this documentary trailer is the composition Este es mi México by Juan Cortez (to purchase this composition click here)

Juan is the director of the 2009 Northwest Mariachi Festival with three days of workshops in music, dance and voice.  This festival runs from May 20 through May 23 in Wenatchee, WA.  Go to www.nothwestmariachifestival.com for more information.
